About Us

The Shatford Centre, located in the heart of Penticton, is a hub for community arts and culture in the Okanagan Valley. We believe in providing spaces for people to gather and celebrate creativity.

Built in 1921, it is a classic Georgian heritage building with an abundance of rooms that can be rented for events and projects. It is also the home of the Okanagan School of the Arts (OSA), which was founded in 1960. Over the past few years, we have offered a range of writing, editing and publishing workshops, and hosted casual Writers’ Cafés.

In 2016, we hosted our first annual Okanagan Valley Writers’ Festival, anchored by a conference that was brimming with useful information shared by professional presenters, yet had the comfortable feel of a family reunion. (And the food—oh, my, the food!) Other events included a dinner-theatre style variety show, and free public readings and author meet & greets.

We had so much fun, we’ve decided to make it an annual event. Come join us for a wonderful weekend of learning, sharing, food, and fun.
